FAQ

Short answers.

If something is not here, email sebastien@selego.co and it probably should be.

What is findyourcofounder?
A public index of people in the Netherlands who are open to meeting a co-founder. Everyone answers the same three questions — what motivates them, the partner they want, the business they would build — and the answers are the profile. There is no matching algorithm and no ranking.
Does it cost anything?
No. There is no paid tier, no boosted placement and no premium features. It is a side project, not a business.
Who can join?
Anyone looking for a co-founder. Most people on the index are in the Netherlands, because that is where it started and a list is only useful if you can plausibly meet the people on it. You do not need an existing company, funding, or an idea — plenty of profiles say exactly that.
Is my email address public?
No. Email is stripped from every public response, so it never reaches the page and never reaches anyone scraping it. When someone sends you a note through the site, the message is delivered by us with their address as the reply-to — so you learn theirs only if you decide to reply, and they learn yours only when you do.
How do people get in touch with me?
From your profile page, using the "send a coffee" form. They have to be signed in, the note goes to your inbox, and replying is a normal email reply. Nothing is posted publicly and there is no inbox to check on the site.
What shows on my profile?
Your name, city, skills, how much capital you would put in if you said so, your LinkedIn if you added it, and your three answers. Plus an illustrated avatar you can customise. That is it.
Do you vet or verify people?
No, and you should not assume otherwise. A profile is a claim its author makes about themselves. Do the same diligence you would before starting a company with anyone — because that is what this is. We do remove impersonations, abusive content and profiles that exist only to advertise something.
Can I edit or delete my profile?
Yes, both, at any time, from your profile page. Deleting removes you from the index, from search, from the sitemap and from every list on the site.
What is the weekly Slack post?
The community Slack has a #the-index channel where a short summary lands every Tuesday: who joined that week, how many founders are on the index, how many cities. Joining the Slack is optional and separate from having a profile.
Will you email me?
Only when you ask us to — a password reset, or a note another founder sent you. There is no newsletter and no mailing list; that moved to Slack, where leaving is one click and entirely in your hands.
Someone on the index should not be there. What do I do?
Email sebastien@selego.co with the profile URL and what is wrong. Impersonations and abusive profiles get removed as fast as we see them.
